La grotta del Presepe è un antro di origine lavica dove nel 1741, per ripararsi da un violento temporale, si rifugiò il sacerdote Mariano Valerio.Questi, incantato dalla bellezza del luogo, pensò di allestirvi un Presepe: dette perciò incarico ad alcuni artigiani locali di creare i "personaggi", veri capolavori artistici in cera e legno a grandezza d'uomo, poi riccamente abbigliati. La vigilia di Natale del 1852 il Presepe venne consacrato ed aperto ai fedeli.
Ancora oggi, la grotta ed i "personaggi" conservano la loro originaria bellezza.Durante le festività natalizie la Chiesa, aperta tutti i giorni, diventa luogo di emozionanti cerimonie religiose.
