Museo Casa Horne - Firenze in Toscana
Herbert Percy Horne (1844-1916), architetto e storico dell’arte inglese, fu mercante e promotore di cultura. Si batté per impedire la distruzione del centro storico di Firenze e raccolse opere d’arte ed oggetti di valore nella sua abitazione di Via dei Benci. Il Palazzo, costruito nel 1489 per la ricca famiglia degli Alberti, è uno dei più belli del centro di Firenze.
Alla sua morte Horne lasciò alla città il suo patrimonio composto da opere di grande valore artistico come il polittico di Santo Stefano attribuito a Giotto, una Madonna col Bambino attribuita a Simone Martini ed una Madonna di Bernardo Daddi. All’ultimo piano si trova la cucina con pentole ed utensili rinascimentali collezionati dallo stesso Horne.
