It was transformed into a farmhouse. Some splay windows on square stones and parts of a small door on the left side are all that remains of the old structure. The entrance was facing west, like most of the religious buildings of that time. Situated on the diocesan border between Massa and Populonia, it was often subject to territorial disputes.
The parish church was considered by the pilgrims as the diocesan boundary of the road that, from the Pisan hills, led to the district of Cornia through the “piviere” of Querceto (property of the parish church).
