Piacenza in Emilia Romagna - Castello di Alseno
Il Musso ed altri cronisti, alla data 1180, annotano: "fu innalzata la torre del Seno del distretto piacentino". Nel corso del tempo si succedettero varie modifiche e ricostruzioni, così come diversi possessori, tra cuiTGalvano Landi, il famoso condottiero Niccolò Piccinico e poi Lodovico Fogliani, e di nuovo, nel 1466, Manfredo Landi. In esso fu ospite per un paio d'ore Papa Pio VII, nel Marzo del 1814, al ritorno dal suo domicilio coatto in Francia.
Verso la metà del 1800, il fortilizio passò in proprietà dei duchi Sforza Fogliani, imparentati con i Landi. L'edificio attuale ingloba qualche elemento del castello precedente e ne ricalca probabilmente, almeno in parte, la pianta quadrata. La costruzione è interamente in mattoni; un tratto di pietre ben squadrate, che si può rilevare sul lato nord-est del cortile, fa ritenere che possa trattarsi della base della torre del primitivo castello.
