Serrone - Frosinone nel Lazio
La storia di questo ridente centro, situato alle falde del massiccio dello Scalambra, a 738 metri di altitudine, è molto simile a quella di Paliano, che dista da esso appena sei chilometri. Le zone attorno all’attuale centro storico erano abitate sicuramente da una colonia ernica, come testimoniano le mura poligonali della “Lesca”, una località a circa due chilometri da Serrone. Sotto l’Impero romano il territorio di Serrone fu ugualmente abitato, come provato dai ruderi romani in località “Grotte”. La nascita di un primo abitato della città deve essere ricondotto al V° secolo d.C. Durante i secoli VII° ed VIII° la Badia di Subiaco aveva il dominio su buona parte del territorio di Serrone, e nel IX° secolo il centro subì saccheggi e scorrerie da parte dei Saraceni.
Nel secolo XI° la Badia di Subiaco era diventata nuovamente una grande potenza feudale e il primo documento scritto che si riferisce a Serrone risale all’anno 1085, e vi si legge che un certo Trasmodo, abitante del Caste ... Read More...
